Red Giant Announces BulletProof at NAB 2013

-

Red Giant launched BulletProof at NAB 2013. BulletProof is a complete offload, prep and delivery system for footage. It simplifies the everyday tasks facing filmmakers on set. Bridging the gap between camera and editor, BulletProof combines all backup, organization, color and delivery tasks while handling footage from multiple cameras and media cards. Whether shooting with a Canon DSLR, Nikon DSLR or GoPro sports cam, filmmakers, the system enables videographers and data wranglers to quickly and easily transform their raw footage into edit-ready footage.

BulletProof eliminates the need for manually copying media cards to hard drives with a checksum-verified process for backing up footage. The system is designed for DSLR and sports cam workflows, and provides professional color controls.

BulletProof was designed by the team at Red Giant, including co-founder, Sean Safreed; Sandy Alves, UX designer (formerly a designer on Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom), and filmmaker, director and VFX artist, Stu Maschwitz.

“At SNL, we often have less than 48 hours to produce an entire spot so we’re always looking for ways to speed up our workflow,” said Alex Buono, director of photography for the Saturday Night Live film unit. “Red Giant’s new BulletProof software, which combines so many processes into one elegant solution, is the workflow tool we’ve been dreaming of.”

The BulletProof workflow is presented in a series of five views – Import, Organize, Review, Refine and Export – arranged in a left-to-right flow that mirrors what filmmakers do on set every day. Moving between views is interactive with a sliding interface and finger swipe support. The UI is designed to be intuitive. Filmmakers can also choose between a friendly Conversation mode and an “engineer-friendly” Layout mode.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

1
Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
