Stereo D Names Mike Gunter Chief Operating Officer

Stereo D has named Mike Gunter as chief operating officer. The company, which specializes in 2D-to-3D conversions, is a subsidiary of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group.

“Mike’s background and expertise make him an ideal fit for the leadership team at Stereo D as we continue to grow the company through our creator-driven approach and technological innovations that best serve our clients,” said Stereo D president William Sherak.

In his role, Gunter will oversee the operating and administrative functions of Stereo D, including finance, business affairs, human resources and management of the company’s facilities in Burbank, California and Pune, India. Additionally, Gunter will share oversight of Stereo D’s IT operations with EVP and chief creative officer Aaron Parry. He will report directly to Sherak.

Prior to joining Stereo D, Gunter served as CFO and EVP finance for Deluxe Entertainment Services Group and led the acquisition of the Stereo D business assets by Deluxe in May, 2011. Gunter previously served as CFO for Deluxe’s Film Laboratories. He began his career at KPMG in London. He holds a BS in economics from the London School of Economics and an MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business.

Recently, Stereo D collaborated with Marvel on the conversion of The Avengers, from director Joss Whedon. Prior to that, the company worked on the stereo conversion of Titanic.

Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
