MPSE Hosts Sound Advice: The Future of Foley for Members on Oct. 15

-

The Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) has announce a new MPSE “Sound Advice” Zoom panel, hosted by Eric Marks MPSE, called, “The Future of Foley.”

The description for this MPSE members only panel is as such:

“Foley has been an integral part of film sound for nearly a century. It grounds our favorite characters to the same rules of gravity and physics that we ourselves inhabit, and expands upon the reality of any story.

But as technology continues to rapidly evolve, and the budget structure of films, shows and games follows suit, where does that leave Foley? How will the ever-important work of Foley artists, recordists and editors change in the months and years ahead?

Join us for a deep dive into this topic with some of the most decorated Foley artists in film and games:”

John Roesch MPSE – Foley Artist
Alyson Dee Moore MPSE – Foley Artist
Joanna Fang – Foley Artist

This is a MPSE members-only event.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

1
Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
