Manhattan Edit Workshop announced the return of its popular series, “From the Cutting Room.” The upcoming event, which is slated for Nov. 21, at 7:00 p.m. will feature Rob Legato (Hugo, Avatar, Shutter Island) and Mark Russell (The Adjustment Bureau, Doubt, Minority Report). The celebrated VFX duo, currently at work on the upcoming Martin Scorsese film, Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, will give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the techniques behind creating stunning visual effects and discuss how they take full advantage of the performance and reliability of HP Z Workstations powered by Intel Xeon processors. Moderated by MEWShop’s Josh Apter, the event will take place at the French Institute.

Legato won two Academy Awards for his work on the films Titanic (1998) and Hugo (2012). He was also a part of the visual effects team for Star Trek: The Next Generation as both visual effects coordinator and visual effects supervisor.

Russell is known for his visual effects work on films including E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Minority Report (2002) and The Adjustment Bureau (2011). In 2009, he was nominated for a VES Award for outstanding supporting visual effects in a feature motion picture.
