Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) and parent company Lucasfilm released this video, which explains the raison d’être of the company’s new virtual reality studio – ILM Experience Lab (ILMxLAB). The new division will draw on the talents of Lucasfilm, ILM and Skywalker Sound to create immersive entertainment experiences. For several years, the company has been investing in real-time graphics – building a foundation that will enable ILMxLAB to develop virtual reality, augmented reality, real-time cinema, theme park entertainment and narrative-based interactive experiences for future platforms.
