Editor Blake Bogosian of Deluxe‘s Beast revived old school analog techniques for rapper Danny Brown‘s new music video “When It Rain.” The initial footage was shot by cinematographer Alexander Dynan on Hi8, VHS and ARRI ALEXA Mini cameras. After completing the initial edit, Bogosian recaptured the video with a Hi8 camera and used a video mixer board from TACHYONS+ to glitch and distort the footage in real time. The result is a uniquely visceral video that takes viewers on a wild ride full of visual complexities and leaves them wanting more.
“When It Rain” was produced by Doomsday Entertainment and directed by Mimi Cave.
