NYC’s Hottest VFX Artists Show and Tell

Createasphere returns to New York for its third outing on Sept. 21-22, 2010, presenting two full days of panels, exhibitions and networking. On Sept. 21, the Createasphere Entertainment Technology Expo will present HOT VFX NYC, a panel discussion and screening with representatives from some of the most creative and successful visual effects companies and artists in New York. Moderated by Rob Morgenroth, business development director of the Visual Effects Society (VES), the panelists will share experiences and show recent work. As visual effects grow increasingly integral to the entire lifecycle of content, from pre-production through post, the role of visual effects in a wide variety of content is expected to grow. The Createasphere panel represents a unique opportunity to interact with the top experts in a moderated conversation and see where creativity and technology is headed.

The companies represented on the panel are among the most respected in the industry, at work in feature films, games, music videos and commercials, including Look Effects (Avatar, Step Up3D, Spiderman), Charlex (‘s, “Take Our Planet Back,” “Covergirl,” “BP,” “Sprint”), Rhino-Gravity (upcoming Salt, GhostTown, Crash), and The Mill (Doctor Who, Nike spots, Kanye West’s, “Heard ‘Em Say”). Games, television, mobile, 3D, and feature films are all set for discussion.

Createasphere will host a VES Meet Up at the end of the day on September 21.

Kristin Petrovich Kennedy, president of Createasphere, said, “To look at the work of these talented individuals and these companies is simply awe-inspiring – great creativity and technology pushed to its limits. The New York visual effects community is creating world class work and we’re proud to present such an influential group. We are also proud to continue our collaboration with VES.”

In addition to the HOT VFX NYC panel, the event includes a 3D panel focused on the content creator’s readiness to create 3D which will feature some of the most compelling filmmakers and companies working in 3D. Createasphere has expanded to a two-day event after two successful years in New York, and nine in Los Angeles. Petrovich-Kennedy commented, “Our Createasphere team members were receiving consistent requests from our community and exhibitors to grow the event. So, it seemed to us that the interest in the event makes the time right. There is so much to see on the show floor, interesting panels and great networking opportunities and now there is enough time to explore.”

Immediately following the Createasphere Entertainment Technology Expo, Createasphere will present its Digital Asset Management Conference, Sept. 23-24. The Digital Asset Management Conference premiered in Los Angeles in February with great reviews and the participation of key industry players. The DAM New York event, a paid conference, will feature some of the most important organizations and companies in the DAM space including Showtime, MLB, The Smithsonian, The Whitney, Active Storage, Media Beacon, National Geographic and more.

Registration for Createasphere’s Entertainment Technology Expo is free and available online until Sept. 20 at For further information about Createasphere Entertainment Technology Expo, visit For more information and registration for the Digital Asset Management Conference visit,
