Mondelez International, the company behind such snack food brands as brands as Oreo, Nabisco biscuits, Cadbury, Trident gum, Jacobs coffee and Tang powdered beverages, launched its first original content series called Now We’re Newtons.
The episodic comedy, which premiered earlier this week online, focuses on the corporate culture clash between figs and other fruits when “Fig Newtons” introduces other product lines and rebrands itself as just “Newtons.”
The series is also designed to increase awareness of the company’s partnership with Feeding America – a nationwide network of 200 food banks – and get consumers to participate in its “A Lot of Fruit to Give” campaign.
To tell the story of this hostile takeover, Mondelez teamed up with marketing communication firm Weber Shandwick and production company Pet Gorilla, which produced and directed the series.
