Creative Arts Emmys
2021 Creative Arts Emmys

On Sunday, September 12, the third and final group of Creative Arts Emmys were handed out at a live in-person ceremony at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles during an evening ceremony. The three ceremonies will be edited down to a two-hour show that will air on FXX on September 18.

The third and final Creative Arts Emmys ceremony was a mixed bag of actors, casting, and direction, but also lighting design, music categories and others with some of the focus being on variety series and specials.

Some of the same programs popped again including the Netflix limited series, The Queen’s Gambit, which added two more Emmys for casting and music composition, while the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, added four more Emmys for visual effects, stunt coordination and direction, and music composition. Disney+’s Marvel Studio series, WandaVision, added another Emmy for the “Agatha All Along” music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez of Frozen fame, while Hamilton won an Emmy for “technical direction, camera, video control.”

Saturday Night Live probably received the most Emmys at the third Creative Arts Emmy ceremony, adding four more for guest actor and guest actress, direction, and lighting design/lighting direction.

Bob Burnham‘s Netflix special, Bo Burnham: Inside, finally showed up with Burnham winning three Emmys for his writing, direction and music direction for the popular special.

Apple‘s Ted Lasso  won one Emmy for its casting, but we think it will be a big winner next week at the main Primetime Emmys, which will air on Sunday night, Sept. 19.

You can read the full list of winners from the first ceremony of Night 2 in the below categories (listed alphabetically): (Note: * denotes the talented creatives Below the Line interviewed, with a link on their name directed to the interview)
