Alkemy X announced that Justin Wineburgh has been appointed president and CEO, effective Feb. 1.

Wineburgh, who has served as the company’s legal counsel since 2005, was chosen because of his extensive experience in the media, entertainment and sports industries, where his work included developing and executing strategies to drive growth, his management and leadership skills and his broad-reaching relationships.

Interim president Dave West will remain in his role as chairman of Alkemy X’s board of directors.

“As Alkemy opens this new chapter, we are confident that Justin will bring the necessary leadership and depth to help us drive Alkemy X’s transformation and growth in the years ahead,” said West. “Justin already has an in-depth understanding of Alkemy X and its tremendous creative team and assets, as well as an incredible, vast network from his nearly two decades of work in the media and entertainment industry. We have worked closely with Justin already and have the utmost respect for his experience and accomplishments.”

Wineburgh spent the last 16 years at Cozen O’Connor, a law firm with over 600 attorneys in 23 offices across two continents. A partner since 2003, he headed the firm’s media and entertainment practice, and his clients consisted of film and television writers, distributors, production companies, websites and performing artists, as well as retailers, advertising and marketing agencies, managers, agents, athletes and professional sports team owners and operators. He has represented clients at the Sundance, Cannes, CineVegas and Toronto International Film Festivals, as well as at the American Film Market and the Comic-Con International Convention.
