Rascal Films has signed well-known Broadway director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw. Nicholaw won the 2011 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for his work as co-director of The Book of Mormon. With Rascal Films, Nicholaw will apply his talents to the commercial realm.
“I love directing buoyant, lively projects that build on quirky and original ideas,” said Nicholaw. “With commercials it is about being concise with storytelling – no matter the scope of the production – while reflecting each brand in an interesting way.”
In addition to Book of Mormon, Nicholaw’s Broadway credits include Elf: The Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone and Monty Python’s Spamalot, directed by Mike Nichols.
“In addition to being incredibly talented, Casey is truly enthusiastic about commercials and advertising,” said Jim Golden, EP/co-founder of Rascal Films. “For all of his vast and award-winning experience he is authentic and genuine. We felt an immediate kinship.”
“He is a master storyteller, whether for stage or screen, and we are excited to collaborate with him to create spectacular advertising,” added Rascal EP/co-founder Pete Christy.
