-

By Jack EganBaseball has one, in Cooperstown, New York. For Rock and Roll it’s in Cleveland. Now we’ve learned that the Art Directors Guild will soon launch its own Hall of Fame—to honor illustrious production designers who have left an indelible legacy in the films and television shows they worked on.An official announcement by the ADG of the first seven inductees is expected within the next few weeks, and the seven will be officially honored at the Ninth Annual Art Directors Guild Awards ceremony on February 12, 2005 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. That’s when three-time Academy-Award nominated production designer William J. Crebers will be presented with the guild’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Crebers received nominations for The Greatest Story Ever Told, The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno. And for the first time an award in a new category, excellence in production design for commercials, will get handed out. Five nominees will be announced January 13, and the winner will be revealed at the February art director’s awards.
