Createasphere Presents Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC

Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC will speak at Createasphere, March 3.
Createasphere’s Entertainment Technology Expo, March 3, at the Universal Hilton in Universal City, Calif. will present esteemed cinematographer Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC in a conversation with American Cinematographer’s Jon Witmer.

Deakins is a 2011 Oscar nominee for True Grit and recipient of the American Society of Cinematographers 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award. True Grit is his ninth Academy Award nomination. Over the course of his career, he has garnered recognition from BAFTA, The Independent Spirit Awards, the American Film Institute and the American Society of Cinematographers. Deakins’ extensive credits include: Frank Darabont’s The Shawshank Redemption; Martin Scorsese’s Kundun; Ron Howard’s A Beautiful Mind, Andrew Dominik’s The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford; Alex Cox’s Sid & Nancy, Mike FiggisStormy Monday; Sam MendesRevolutionary Road and Jarhead, Stephen Daldry’s The Reader (on which he shared credit with Chris Menges), and Vadim Perelman’s House of Sand and Fog, to name a few. For 20 years, he has been a close collaborator to the Coen Brothers, from their first outing together on Barton Fink through True Grit, and the films in between including No Country For Old Men, A Serious Man, The Man Who Wasn’t There, The Ladykillers, Fargo, Intolerable Cruelty, O Brother, Where Art Thou and The Big Lebowski.

The American Cinematographer Conversations at Createasphere are presented in collaboration with the magazine and feature one-on-one discussions with the most sought after cinematographers of the day and journalists from American Cinematographer. Past Conversations have included Wally Pfister, ASC, Vilmos Zsignmond, ASC, and Lance Accord, ASC.

Createasphere’s Entertainment Technology Expo offers a full day of panels, seminars and exhibitions. Also on March 3, “The Game Is On: Tron: Legacy” panel will take attendees behind the scenes of the technological ground breaker to explore the complex and innovative process that brought the movie to the screen. Steve Gaub, co-producer, Dave Cole, DI colorist, Andre Trejo, LaserPacific, and James Haygood, ACE, will share their experience of helping to create the visually stunning film.
