Codex Vault
U.K.-based camera rental company Take 2 has added to its existing inventory of Codex equipment with the purchase of four Codex Vaults as well as additional Codex M recorders and datapacks. The company, which has facilities in London and Cape Town, South Africa, will share the equipment between both facilities.

“We are excited to add to our Codex inventory in the U.K. and South Africa,” said Take 2’s Vince Wild. “We believe that the Codex Vault provides great benefits to our customers in terms of optimizing workflow and protecting their digital negative.”

Take 2’s Martin Berry explained that “Codex’s superb customer support means that we can be comfortable that any equipment in remote locations will be fully supported around the clock. That was an important factor in our decision, particularly for our Cape Town location.”

Take 2 has been in business since 1999 and has been renting out Codex equipment for over two years. Last year, its South Africa office provided Codex equipment, along with ARRI Alexa cameras to the feature film production, Chronicle. The company is currently supporting projects such as the upcoming feature film production, Zulu.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

1
Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
