The Tape Company announced that it has acquired Burbank-based Media Distributors, and the two companies will now operate together under the Media Distributors name.

“We inherited a great amount of new product and solution expertise when we acquired Media Distributors,” said Bob Daly, VP of sales for The Tape Company and co-owner of Media Distributors. “The Tape Company also brings a lot to the table, in the way of nationwide locations, online ordering and a large product selection. It was natural to bring the best of both of these organizations together to better serve all of our customers.”

Elmhurst, Ill.-based The Tape Company has stocking warehouse locations in several major cities, including Philadelphia, Chicago, Seattle, Dallas and Atlanta as well as Burbank, California. Media Distributors has operated for more than two decades providing recording media in the Los Angeles area.

“The Tape Company’s name fit our business perfectly, until the use of tape in acquisition and editing evolved to solid-state media, hard drives and disc media over the past decade,” said Daly. “Tape is still widely used for archival purposes, but we now offer a huge variety of these new products, as well as blu-ray, digital asset management, disc publishing solutions and more. Although we are still one of the nations’ largest suppliers of tape, Media Distributors’ name, developed in the late ’90s, fits better with all these new product offerings.”

Michael Cullen, president of The Tape Company and co-owner of Media Distributors, said, “It is important that our loyal Tape Company customers know that we will continue to serve them as we always have, and in several cases, even better. Our combined product knowledge, nationwide footprint, superior customer service, large inventory and fast delivery now make us the best choice for recording media and solutions for anyone in production today.”

Daly explained that the combined entity will be able to offer next-day delivery to most U.S. cities via ground delivery.
