Company 3 has hired Ashley McKim as executive producer. She will be based in Santa Monica and report to chief marketing officer Bill Romeo as she builds the company’s commercial finishing business in Southern California. McKim comes to Company 3 after a tenure at Cutters where she built agency relationships, led marketing and sales initiatives and developed new business opportunities for the editorial house.

“We’re very pleased to have Ashley on the sales team,” said Romeo. “She has a varied and extensive background that makes her the perfect choice to spearhead the aggressive expansion plans we have for Company 3’s commercial finishing business in the region.”

Prior to Cutters, McKim also held a similar role at Hybrid Edit and served as EP and head of sales at Beef Films and Chop House Post, where she served as partner. McKim comes from a background of advertising, marketing and media relations.

“I’m thrilled to be working with such phenomenal talent and representing a brand that is so highly respected throughout the industry,” she said. “This is a big step for me and I’m very happy to be part of the Company 3 team.”

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
