Cinema Audio Society Opens Applications for Student Recognition Award

-

The Cinema Audio Society has opened applications for the its student recognition award. First presented in 2015, this honor comes with a $2,500 cash award and is intended to encourage students’ interest in production or postproduction sound mixing, and to recognize students with passion for the field.

“Reviewing the applications last year we were thrilled to discover this next generation is passionate and dedicated,” said CAS president Mark Ulano, “and that the future of sound mixing is in good hands and ears. We were happy with the response to this award last year and this year we are hoping for an even greater number of applicants as more schools share the news.”

The selection criteria will focus on the student’s short essays in response to application questions, along with professor’s recommendation letter. Five finalists will be invited to the 2016 Awards dinner, on Feb. 20, as guests of CAS, where the student recognition award recipient will be announced.

Eligibility for the award is open to any student enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program at an accredited college or university. Students may be pursuing any major, but should have a demonstrated interest and some experience in production or postproduction sound mixing for film and television.
