Mistika System at LevelS3D
French visual effects facility, LevelS3D, has invested in a Mistika 2K DI and stereoscopic 3D system from SGO. A useful 2D and 3D postproduction tool for commercials, feature films and broadcast, Mistika will help to support LevelS3D’s project workflow and to attract new clients.

Based in Commune Image, a hub of young creative audiovisual companies in St-Ouen, LevelS3D recently launched its fully equipped 2D-4K-S3D postproduction studio. LevelS3D used Mistika on the postproduction of 11-minute animated short film Mr. Hublot, produced by Zeilt Production and Arte, and directed by Laurent Witz and Alexander Espirages. The film received the Grand Prix S3D Seine-Saint-Denis award at the Dimension 3 Festival in Paris last month.

Mistika will be used for all of LevelS3D’s work which includes 2D and stereo 3D corporate films, documentaries and feature films. LevelS3D boasts two suites, Le Ciné and Le Loft. Le Ciné consists of a 168-seat cinema theater suite equipped with a 5.1 surround sound system and a Sony 4K digital projector. With its 3×6.5m-screen, the room can also be converted into a Stereo 3D grading and projection room with a Dolby system to accommodate various projects. The second suite, Le Loft, hosts the Mistika 2K, HD, S3D grading and projection room and is equipped with a Christie projection system.

LevelS3D plans for its new Mistika system to be used not only as Stereo 3D tool, but also as a complete postproduction system, made up of 2D tools which include editing, conforming, image restoration, compositing, color grading, multi mastering and DCP for both 3D and 2D. Mistika will be central to the workflow during each post project.

“It’s an incredibly fast workstation with which we can produce great quality work while reducing production costs from conforming to the DCP,” said Loïc Beauvillain, LevelS3D’s COO.
