Stardust announced that it has hired Blythe Dalton Klippsten as an executive producer. Based in the company’s Santa Monica office, Dalton Klippsten will oversee the day-to-day management of the company’s projects, working closely with co-owner/managing director Dexton Deboree and co-owner/director Seth Epstein.

“Blythe is a perfect cultural fit for where we are taking the new Stardust,” said Epstein. “We love working with great people on great projects; and she is the incarnation of Buddha.”

“From day one of re-launching and re-inventing Stardust, Seth and I had a vision of building something special,” said Deboree. “To do that, it takes the right team, the right leaders, the right artists and the right network of support. Blythe embodies the experience, taste and spirit of working at the highest level of creative excellence, while also possessing an open mind to pioneering new and innovative ways of producing creative content and servicing the clients we collaborate with.”

Dalton Klippsten has had a long career in both television VFX and commercial VFX/postproduction. Most recently serving as executive producer in their west coat office, Dalton Klippsten comes from a five-year run at Mass Market where she oversaw the sales and production of spots for Almond Joy, Kit Kat, Comcast, Honda, Pepsi, Dominos and Crate & Barrel. Prior to joining Mass Market, Dalton Klippsten was a television producer in postproduction, working on VFX-heavy shows like Dark Angel, CSI Miami and CSI New York. She also served as visual effects producer for a slate of television series, including True Blood, Gossip Girl, Chuck and Jericho, which earned her an Emmy nomination.

“I am so very excited to have the privilege of joining the Stardust family,” said Dalton Klippsten. “They bring a high level of design and creativity that is very exciting to be a part of and a whole lot of fun!”

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
