Sony To Unveil New Cine Alta Camera
By Carolyn Giardina
At NAB, Sony is scheduled to launch the HDC-F950, the next generation of its Cine Alta camera technology capable of capturing 4:4:4 RGB and 50 percent more data than its currently-available camera. A Sony spokesperson reported that the new technology was developed based on feedback from James Cameron, George Lucas, and other leading filmmakers.
In conjunction with the announcement, Sony is debuting HDCAM SR, a new, higher quality tape/mastering format to record images captured with the new camera. Sony will manufacture both a portable deck for acquisition and a VTR for post, based on this new format.
