Netflix released a brief teaser trailer for its upcoming adaptation of Daniel Handler’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. The company announced in November that it was developing a television series based on the books – a series of 13 children’s novels written under the pen name Lemony Snicket.
The Verge reported that the trailer was uploaded yesterday morning to a YouTube account registered to “Eleanora Poe,” the editor of a fictitious newspaper called the The Daily Punctilio, who fires Snicket (the series’ narrator) for writing a bad review of a play penned by one of the series’ bad guys.
