Beijing Film Academy Chooses Pablo Rio for Stereo 3D Animation

-

China’s Beijing Film Academy has purchased a Quantel Pablo Rio color correction and finishing system with a Neo Nano color panel. The system will be used by the school’s animation department for the postproduction of Stereo3D animation films. Beijing Film Academy has also purchased SynthIA, Quantel’s standalone software package that provides high quality S3D Interaxial adjustment in post.

Pablo Rio is Quantel’s high-end color and finishing system for 2D and S3D projects. Capable of handling 4K 60P in realtime, Pablo Rio runs on high-performance PC hardware and exploits NVIDIA Maximus multi-GPU technology to deliver maximum interactivity.

“We have had Quantel systems in house for many years and we are continually impressed with their speed, user-friendliness and high quality color, finishing and S3D toolsets,” said Sun Lijun, VP at Beijing Film Academy. “We are always looking to provide our students with the best post systems on the market and with Pablo Rio our students have the ultimate postproduction workflow to maximize creativity and productivity.”

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

1
Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
