FilmLight announced the worldwide availability of a fully-functional academic edition of Baselight for Avid (Mac), the newest product in its Baselight Editions line, which makes the company’s color grading toolset directly available within Avid Media Composer or Symphony.
The week of Oct. 22, universities and other educational institutions will be able to purchase five Baselight for Avid licenses for $995, the price of one commercial license. Alternatively, institutions can obtain 10, 12-month licenses for an annual subscription of $995.
“We’ve had many requests from educators for academic pricing, especially since the release of Baselight for Avid earlier this year,” said FilmLight head of marketing Mark Burton. “We see this as a great opportunity to help those in education get access to Baselight and improve their knowledge and color grading skills.”
A Windows version is currently under development and is expected later this year.
